An Original Dark Poetry based on certain political figures.
And he speaks so very well with tones smooth and round
Words that are compelling and taste like chocolate brown
A sweet and sticky web ensnaring those who never listen
While they swallow every word, still the crowd are missing
Hollow hatred in his voice truly taints all those about
These very words are weapons, cast to keep them down
A wrath unleashed on all those if his will they would oppose
The wolf pack, thugs by any name, are often predisposed
To settle scores with violence, such outcome he desires
Raze the very world to ground, a cleansing done through fire
Why when he speaks against us are we dogs upon the floor?
Thought I heard him clear his throat outside our very door
Before his words destroy us
And we’re no longer free
Shout out for all the world to hear
“We won’t be your detainees!”

First, they came for the Socialists and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me —
And there was no one left to speak for me.
